We are a group of carefree students who have gathered together,
regardless of bawahs, normals, atas, kulintang and percussions
to create music like none other with our conductor, Mr Dzul. :D

(This entry was written on 7/8/06) Constance, you peek into my draft? Actually I was going to read this poem during the farewell but I dont't think I could do so without breaking down!!Parting is such a sweet sorrow and I was never good at saying goodbye. I should be happy to see all of you mature through your stay in NJC and Angklung and more importantly, all of you had grown into a more responsible person and would be glad to see you guys leave NJC and Angklung and for the juniors to experienced what you guys had gone through. So, I will just pen this thought here in the blog and do read it while listening to Eva Cassidy song "I know you by Heart"
Every year I'm faced with uncertainties With new cohort comes new challenges It is indeed a pleasure working with new faces every year sapping on their enthusiasm and trying to keep up with their energy sometimes I forgot that it is only temporary
One can never forget all the experience of the first kind the first time one set foot into NJC the first time one attend the angklung session the first time one perform and it is this first times that will remain engraved in one's heart
To me, it always feel like the first time every time the anxiety of a performance the goosebumps from the wave of Hope and the feelings aroused during the syf season and while waiting for the results...
And it is this feeling that keeps me going and it is this feeling that I want you to feel and it is this feeling that I will cherish for it will never have happen without all of you
I'm neither a poet nor a writer neither am I a musician nor a composer straight from the heart all this appears
to All the JC 2s I hold so dear Thank you for the memories as I cherish forever I armed myself with your enthusiasm and dedication hoping to pass on to the juniors your commitment
As I embarked on a first time journey with the juniors. The spirit of the past will move us further for without you this will never be possible I thank you again and will miss you guys forever
Last Sunday's performance was the final one for the seniors. 1 and a half year has passed. It seems like yesterday i was with u guys teaching and guiding the art of playing the angklung. U are a great bunch of people...ur commitment and dedication towards the ensemble are very commendable. Plse continue that spirit in ur future endeavour...be it ur studies or ur life after school. Joyce, Zi Hao, Constance, Jie Ying, Yijun, Ilona, Zheng Liang and all of u seniors, will always stay in my heart....thx for all those wonderful time.
To the juniors...u too will become seniors. Till then, i am sure u want ur stay in angklung to be a memorable one just like the seniors. I would like to congratulate the new excos, its going to be a very challenging year....the SYF year! Can NJC's Angklung Ensemble clinch the second Gold after 28 years nxt year? It all depends on you and the rest of ur peers. But looking at the amount of effort and commitment u've put in for Eclectic...i can say , we are in the right track. Continue with the excellent team spirit. As for me, i will try my very best to make ur stay in the ensemble as fun and meaningful as possible. I hope i have done that to the seniors.
Take care all, stay sweet, seeya nxt time.
PS : nxt year's SYF song will be full staccatos all the way, in a double quick time...and its going to be an original song. ( i will make a point to compose original songs for all future SYFs)
PSII : thk you for the giant card, the flowers and most importantly, thk you for having faith in the ensemble.
Ha! I guess I'm late! Almost everyone else had blogged about Eclectic.
Eclectic was a blast! I heard positive reviews from some students after the concert and well, errhmm, they prefered our segment of the concert.
It is so sad to see an experienced and capable group of students leaving the ensemble so soon. Later today will be their last performance and I'm sure it will also be very good!
Eclectic would not have been so successful if you, the Angklungnites, had not bonded together as a team, attended practices faithfully, spent your nights in college and overcome your stage fright, especially for those who were performing for the first time.
For every CCA the quality and attitude of the students are of paramount importance to the continuity of the high standards and the attainment of targets. I'm pleased and honoured to have worked with a bunch of motivated beings who, I guessed, had set the standards for their successors to follow.
I hope I'm not pressurising the new exco, but my challenge for them is to look forward and implement new initiatives to bring the NJC Angklung Ensemble to higher grounds.
hey guys! i am in the airport now.. just wanna say concert is SUPER well done especially for apachi and wave of hope!!!! totally love it.. and kinda feel sad now that it's over..
sorry i have to rush off after the concert.. got emergency in indo.. so i'm going back for abt a few days..
to my dear yanmin so sorry i haven't briefed you on your job scope.. will do it ASAP k! sorry! =(
it seems so unbelievable; especially when all we've been doing for the past 2 over wks is just playing angklung!
thanks for an absolutely explosive performance! albeit tt teeny prob with entry on zapin budi, which no one in the audience seemed to have noticed, we did put up a wonderful performance! seems tt the entry down the steps was really gd 'cos my friends were talking abt it over dinner last night! and they enjoyed our segments immensely too! =) on the whole, it seems pple were surprised by our segment 1 'cos it seemed very 'cool' tt angklung cld play such songs! segment 2 was equally gd since they didn't know we had a mistake at all! they really liked the bamboo flute. oh! oh! wave of hope! everyone told me the finale held them enthralled 'cos it was such a touching opening! and the layering of music was also very original! YEs, THANK YOU MR DZUL! w/o you excellent arrangements/compositions, we wldn't have been such a success! =) everyone, kudos to you all for a WONDERFUL performance. i shall rem this always!
this is gg to be one of my last entries and i'm absolutely bursting to say so many thing!
to mr fuad, many, many, many thanks for your encouragement! you've been one of the main reasons why i manage to shoulder on til today. despite all the trying times, you have stood by me and i can't say 'thank you' enough! it's been a great honour wrking with you as my teacher i/c and i shall rem you always as one of the few nj tutors who have really given me room to grow and implement my ideas. thank you so very much!
to mr tan, a big 'thank you' to you too! for as prog comm i/c, you know better than most how crazy i am when i have to rearrange something. and the time i choose to do stuff is also crazy! [since i don't function on the same circadian cycle as the normal beings?!] sorry for the late night calls when i distracted you from the world cup match! [sorry to mr fuad too! =S]
i'm so glad tt i've been able to wrk with such great tutors in my term in office and i shall leave nj knowing tt i did cross the boundary btwn the tutor-student relationship to become friends with both of you! you both have my fullest respect and love!
for my fellow exco, i believe these 2 wks have been a real roller coaster for all of us! what with staying up to ensure every miniscule detail is taken care of, all of us were exhausted in sch and none of us actually managed to put in decent attention for our academics. but we pulled through! yes! joyce, yj, ilo, jy, zl, zh, we finally did it! now we can finally step down w/o any lingering doubts abt our performance! gg to miss the CCA so much; most of all, i'm gg to miss you all so much! you've journeyed with me for almost 2 yrs and like mr fuad, you've been there for me when i cried from stress, exhaustion or sheer emotional, frenzied states! love you all and i'm really, really, really gg to dread saying goodbye. [heck, i'm crying now...]
for my fellow j2s: i'm really gg to miss you all! true, i'm always yelling at you all for what i deem as inappropriate and sometimes it just seems plain unreasonable to you. despite tt i know tt you all tolerate my angst and still continue to contribute. for this, i'm profoundly grateful & i hope you all do well in the future!
for the new exco, congrats! didn't manage to hug all you girls save for my incumbent librarian; no matter, i'll see you all today! i'm extremely pleased tt you all are gg to rep the new batch! you've really shown your mettle in the previous months running as beta exco and i'm sure you all will continue our legacy!
lastly, for the juniors! rem to give your seniors a gd treat for farewell, kk? lol! but seriously, i hope you've all bonded well during the past 6 months. in the following months w/o seniors, you'll all be tested in terms of playing since you'll have fewer numbers but i'm sure you'll pull through in the end 'cos i see tt you all have the spirit to want to do well! =)
Impressive! I couldnt find any words to describe how i feel right now. That was indeed a great performance... Thank you for the lovely flowers Thank you for the super giant card....(just finished reading them) and most importantly, thank you for ur commitment
Seeya all on Sunday....(i'm beginning to miss all of you already....)
Today was memorable. I think you guys just blow the guest away with your music and performance. All the hardwork definitely paid off and seniors that attended the concert were full of praises for you guys.
For the seniors, I'm sure you guys will remember tonight cos I sure will. To see so many people joining in the clap and non stop clapping to the sound of Apachi just make the nite seems so endless and you want to bask in that greatness. Everyone that I talk to were impressed by the performance and HOD MT said that he never ever enjoy a concert like the one that he had just attended i.e. Eclectic.
Thank you everyone for making tonight a memorable night for me. I'm so high now that I think the moment I close my eyes, I can hear the sound of the flute and the angklung playing the Wave of Hope!!
For the jC 2, lets wrap up a great involvement with a great performance on sunday. This will be your swansong and lets make it a great one too!

great job you guys! sorry couldn't give a proper speech just now as was overwhelmed by emotions hahahah :D
but our efforts paid off! all those late nights, the memorising, the practicing, the tardiness, the many attempts at trying to burn the scores and drink them down (kidding!) etc etc, they all paid off!
thank you for working so hard! it wouldn't have been a sucess if not for u and your efforts! everyone single one of you, big angklung, small angklung, or no angklungs (eh, doesn't make sense haha).
Heyo people! I received a very positive feedback from guests and VIPs who attended the opening ceremony @ TPJC...how i wish i'm there with u guys. Let me share with u on wat i received from these people:
Mr Nadiputra, a well known theatre activist in S'pore who attended the ceremony said the NJC performance was outstandingly (is there such a werd?) good! Full of energy and very unique. Mr Sabri Buang, another well-known arts activist commended on the music arrangement and the way u guys played...never in his life imagined a zapin song on angklung. Mr Tharma and Mr Hawazi enjoyed the performance tremendously...impressed with the versatility.
These people are key players in the cultural and arts scene in S'pore... you people have done NJC proud. Well done!
