We are a group of carefree students who have gathered together,
regardless of bawahs, normals, atas, kulintang and percussions
to create music like none other with our conductor, Mr Dzul. :D

To the JC2 s, thank you for the Teacher's Day wishes especially the scrap book. I truly appreciate the book. Flipping through it certainly bring back great memories and will definitely cherish the experiences that we've shared as long as I live. Thank you for the gift.
Sometimes I look back and questioned my continued existence and association with NJC Angklung. I know nuts about music. The only notes I know are the notes that are handed out during lectures!!My wife always tell me that this is a retribution!!She used to play Angklung throughout her stay in RGS and I failed to attend her concert when she performed for the RGS Angklung Alumni concert choosing to go on a holiday instead!!SO, when I was given Angklung as my CCA in 1999, she laugh out so loud that she thought I will not last in this CCA. My friends too could not believe that I'm with Angklung instead of any so called macho CCA. Now, when I told them I'm still with Angklung, they still laugh out loud!!
But, as I experience the years with different students with different character and looking them grow over the 2 years they spend in Angklung, I know that I can make the difference and if nothing will change unless y0u initiate the change and you want the change to happen. I still remember 1999 president name Ina...a small lady being elected to be president of Angklung that consist of around 10-12 members. She was a shy and timid but full of enthusiasm for the ensemble. Whenever she need to talk to the members, she had trouble looking them in the eyes and standing in front of the group. But, Her enthusiasm inspire me to contribute to NJC angklung. She ended her term of office beaming with confidence as throughout the year, I just created opportunities for the group to gel as a team, perform for others and for her to be a more confident leader. Not that I conduct leadership talk or sumthin but more like after practice hangout, conversation over lunch, many hours spend on planning items etc. It is only then that I realise that every little things matters and I told myself that I would be most satisfied when the members enjoy being in Angklung and Angklung had enriched their life throughout their 2 yrs stay in NJC.
So, to all JC 2s and JC 1s, thank you for inspiring me. Each one of you teaches me sumthin about life.
To dzull, Happy teachers day. You are a Teacher whether you like it or not. Maybe some had already call you "cikgu".
To Chor Yean, Happy teachers day to you too. Thank you for your contribution to the ensemble.Next year is going to be a roller coaster and hope you are ready for one hell of a ride.
Ok, I think this is a bit too long. Will take a break now. Chiao
Hello once again. To the JC 2s who are still visiting this site, continue to visit this site ok and maintain communication with all of us. In fact, this is a good avenue if we were to ever start Angklung Alumni. It has to start sometime and let it be this time. Take the initiative and start one soon. Even the government is trying to create a network for all overseas Singaporean to stay in contact with the nation and what better way other than to make use of this platform to maintain the friendship and camaradeire that we had fored over the years.
to the JC 1, last Saturday performance was impressive. I could say that we are heading towards a right direction in preparation for next year's SYF. Always remember what I've told you after that performance. I'm sure the audience share the same feeling as Prof Thumboo ( for those who don't know him, please visiti the website to read about him.( http://www.postcolonialweb.org/singapore/literature/thumboo/thumbooov.html). To be complimented by someone of his stature is indeed encouraging.
Next week 2 sept will be our last Public performance for the year and like I've told you, this would probably be your largest audience. We have great trust in your ability and lets wrap up the year with a massive bang! 2006 has been a wonderful year and let remember it that way ok.
Hiye there! Hope everyone is well, alive and kickin'! Can sense that the stress level is going high up...with the exams and all.
