Hi all, NOvi had emailed some photos of the kebaya that are available in Indonesia. I thought maybe we could change our outfit for our outdoor performances and not to be overly dependent on the college blazer all the time.
I don't know how all of you feel but I thought we look good and awesome in red during the last SYF and that sets us apart from the rest. So, for this year's SYF, with the kind of song that we will be playing, I think the red blazer will really compliment the music.
What do you guys think of the kebaya and the wearing of red blazer for the SYF?
Click on the link below to access the album if the photos didnt appear here.

Congratulation to the organizing committee of yesterday's JC 1 Orientation. I'm very sure you find the experience enriching. I could see that the JC 1 enjoy the session yesterday. Thank you once again.
For the rest of you, it has alwyas been our principle to allow everyone to have the chance to lead or organise an activity. In Angklung, Everyone matters and Everyone is a leader. So, step up and take the lead and don't shun away from responsibility.
The next event is an Enrichment Workshop for the visitors from Tianjin. It will be on the 5th February (MOnday). So, for those of who does not hold any leadership position in any CCA or not a class/subject reps, do take this chance to organise the program. approach Xuesi to volunteer your services.
So, once again I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the JC 1 Orientation organizing comm and for the rest of you, continue your good work in ensuring the success of Angklung Ensemble.

The title is a little belated but my wishes are sincere. Ok...just a little crap...
I think I should post something after my 2 fellow ex-Saints (or actually Saints, because once a Saint, always a Saint) posted some motivational stuff here.
I'm not as motivational as them, and it is something I have to improve on.
We have an exciting year lined up for us. (Actually every year is exciting but 2007 must be more exciting than 2006.)
Firstly, we have to seek new blood to carry on the legacy. We hope to find among the JC1s and IP1s or whoever joins Angklung passionate and motivated people to lead Angklung into 2008. Hence Orientation is very important. Evi and her gang has a huge task. I'm eagerly awaiting to see their proposal. Xuesi told me that they should be handing in on Wednesday. I actually urged Sheila to hand in earlier today.
I would prefer to have more new members than the present seniors. Though quality is better than quantity, but the more the merrier.
Secondly, this is SYF year. Our rehearsal time slot at the Singapore Conference Hall is 24th March 8.45am. So you people have to reach school early that day to prepare. Hope this will not scare new members away.
The central judging date is not out yet but it should be in late April. So please practice hard for it! Our target is Gold with Honours! Must aim high so that if we miss we still win Gold.
Thirdly, we have Angklung enrichment as one of our goals is to raise the level of music appreciation among all beings in NJC.
And then maybe we have Tianjin exchange or any interesting programmes you people can come up with.
Lastly, I have an announcement to make.
To spare Mr Fuad and me some work at the end of the year and to facilitate you writing your statements for the School Graduating Certificate (announced during Civics today), can you all log into KM and start updating your profiles regarding Angklung and then get Mr Fuad or me to evaluate as soon as possible? The lastest you people should finish updating regarding Angklung is after SYF (in June). Thank you as end of the year I'm afraid we are all very busy so better do now.
Please spread this message to all members.
Hello all.....never ever I miss the first day of school and to experience this for the first time this year is certainly an experience that I do not want to be repeated again. I feel so lost not knowing whats happening in school and having to sms people all the time and worst of all, not being able to participate in the JC 1 CCa carnival.
I always view the CCA Carnival as extremely important as thats the opportunity for us to showcase our ability and the same time ensure our continued existence. I 've been keeping in contact with Xuesi and the feedback that I've gotten was resounding. Thank you to all that are involve in the recruitment. I do hope that you find great satisfaction in sharing the joy of being an Angklungnite with the JC 1 and IP 1 students.
Now that you have a list of names that sign up, the next step is to show interest in getting them to join us and be a part of the special group called Angklungnites. Do invite thos e who did not sign up to and if they want to find out about us, do as them to visit this blog and read the entries for themselves before they decide whether Angklung is for them.
I know the main concern among the freshies would be the Saturday practice. But, explain to them whay we need to have practice on Saturday.
Firstly, Mr Zul is fully available on Saturday. I'm sure they woyuld not want practice without him rite?
secondly, we are not the only CCa that is having our practice on Saturday. Practising on Saturday has it's advantage ie the school is quieter and we can focus fully on the training.
Thirdly, after practise we can have our normal lunch at KP or K.A.P as some call it...even I'm confuse whether to call it K.P or K.A.P ( somebody please help me on this..)
and many other advantages too....
Finally, Evi and her comm will be taking care of the JC 1 orientation. Please give her your utmost support. Remember, in Angklung, everyone is a leader and everyone matters...It has always been our style to give every member the opprtunity to lead. For those who do not hold any leadership opportunity, fret not, you will be given the opportunity to lead and experienec being a leader.
Ok....I will sign off for now. For the others who are reading this, especially the New students of NJC,
why wait, don't hesitate as joining Angklung bring no regrets!!!The Guru

yep, u read e title.it has been a long while since i met any of you juniors, except maybe the OGLs, and especially Mr Dzul. missed his jokes a lot... probably he's going to give u a start-of-e-year motivational talk about jc life n time management this month. i wouldnt be surprised if he has done so alrd =)i have juz read e post about all e activities n achievements in 2006, n i must say that i m impressed at what we have been able to achieve within a short span of just one year. strictly speaking, the nature of the accomplishments, eclectic, angklung enrichment n all e invitational performances has certainly put njc angklung ensemble high up in the arena of musical groups playing traditional n ethnic instruments, whether u like it or not. all this has been made possible thanks to our our ever-inspiring Mr Dzul! it therefore pains me to find out, after some conversations with Mr Fuad, tt some of u question e necessity of having to go out n perform, eg. the opening of e malay language month at tpjc. yes, i remember the stress n e nerve of having to perform in public when i first started in 2005 for e opening of Taman Warisan. but then again, think about how many groups and people actually have e opportunity to showcase themselves n make a headline or two. what more when they are once-in-a-lifetime and exclusive events. along the way, we were able to leave a deep n positive impression on the "people up there" and e "people out there". remember Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam on his way out at tpjc? for joyce's n freddy's batch, remember PM Lee Hsien Loong taking pictures w us at Taman Warisan? i, for one, feel greatly honoured to have been part of the transformation of njc angklung.so i hope tt in 2007, e list of achievements will be a lot longer n more impressive than tt of 2006. start e new year w a renewed strength n enthusiasm. u may think tt u hav played all e songs tt u ever will play. n some might even have gotten sick of hearing those songs =) but trust me, Mr Dzul will bring in more interesting music w e new year to keep everyone enlightened m interested. w syf this year, n w Mr Dzul getting more inspirational in his music, i have a strong confidence tt a gold w honours is within reach. but forget not abt e process of nurturing e juniors to b interested in angklung n its unique music n conductor. inspire e incoming juniors just as your seniors n Mr Dzul hav in 2006, n u shall have a memorable n fruitful experience being in the angklung ensemble.if anyone asks what is it about angklung that is so special? tell them tt looks can be deceiving. it is not juz abt e hardware; it is e heartware...

Hello everyone...maybe it's not too late for me to wish all of you a Happy New Year. Just in case you have not seen me around in school, worry not...I'm actually serving my reservist till 9 January 2007.
First and foremost, do continue to use this blog as a source of communication among current members and also senior members. The last thing I want is for the blog to remain dormant.

For the JC 2s, you have a major task to play and it starts now!!!Do spread the word around about Angklung and encourage the juniors to sign up and be a member. Each and every single member plays a part in the recruitment process.
