regardless of bawahs, normals, atas, kulintang and percussions
to create music like none other with our conductor, Mr Dzul. :D

Sorry for the late posting, my com crashed since the start of the week...and there's two parts cuz my internet explorer just closed down and I'm left with these auto-saved pics in the post...
Carline...sorry I didn't crop this for you...:P
This is an improvisation to the angklung in order to play tengkep(play only one tube) without needing to use your hand to lock the other tube. According to the RGS girl I asked, the knowledge of this 'technology' was transferred to them from Bandung. The wonders of globalisation..=.= maybe the new QMs may want to consider applying this to our angklungs too?

There you go...this is just one of the few songs they put up a preview of before the REAL thing. But still they did great despite it being a rehearsal...you'll have to listen carefully cuz the melody is lower. They have a drumset and double bass BOTH PLAYED BY GIRLS!! And note the number of angklungs they're holding in their hands!!! Even the little ones who might be half of our age are holding twice as many angklungs as we are...=.= and they dun even need to pick up angklungs or have an angklung stand. Pro or not?
Song: Mamma Mia
pictures will be put up later...

Hello people...brace urself for the upcoming shows. Before that, congrats to those who've attended the two-day 'symposium' @ RGS, i'm sure its an eye opener and mind boggling xperience and even a culture shock for most of you. Each school has a different style of playing and scoring of songs...and to adapt to them resulted in major confusion..initially....but, from wat i saw and heard, u guys blended in well. Ok now for the upcoming shows...the IRIR competition and also the Esplanade's performance on National Day's eve. This is more for the J1s. Preparation for the two shows will be done concurrently..plse plan ur personal schedules as 100% attendance for ALL the regular practice days are needed. Seeya soon and all the best for ur CTs.
In the months up to August, there are 4 main projects for the ensemble. They are:
1) IRIR Competition. The audition date will be in early to mid July, on one of the early afternoons. Attire wise I will discuss with the exco (I propose black lycra, $23 per pair @ Giodarno and sarong). Songs will be Gunung Payung and Zapin. Seniors are welcomed to participate. However, at least 10% of the performers must be from a different enthic group. IRIR mah...
2) Enrichment for Taiwan visitors on 29th July (I think). Simple activity, just teach them some history, a song or two and basic playing techniques. Copy and paste from previous years...
3) National Day performance at Esplanade concourse on 8th August evening time, 2 sessions 30 minutes each. Playing national songs like Chan Mali Chan, Singapura etc. Seniors are welcomed to join, however must inform me earlier as I need to submit names for passes in mid July. For your information, the ensemble performs annually at the Esplanade concourse. You can take the opportunity to go on dates after the performance. Good idea right?
4) Senior farewell. This is the first major task for the new exco. I have not yet decided on a date, probably after National Day, a simple buffet in school as the Prelims are in September.
Have a good break. (:
PS: The elite 10 attending the symposium please turn up on time in FULL GREY on Monday. The guys who are supposed to help me bring angklungs in the morning please appear at 7.10am outside angklung room.
