regardless of bawahs, normals, atas, kulintang and percussions
to create music like none other with our conductor, Mr Dzul. :D

Hello all
Thk you Chor Yean for uploading the video and the syf 2007 songs. That was indeed an awesome display of sheer musicianship by the angklunites, and also the feel that were injected into the songs can be felt thruout the hall.
To the current members, this is wat i meant when i said that music with feel will generate an unseen force of energy. Thats the reason why i emphasised on feel. Stir the feeling of listeners with this energy,move them, communicate with them..u hv the power to touch everyone's heart with ur music. Music is the most powerful non-violent weapon since ancient time..people go to war to the beat of the drum, to give them that extra energy and fighting spirit..music is also the food of love..music is an unspoken universal language that can inspire the mind and touch the heart.
So people, be one with ur instrument, be one with ur songs..understand them, play with feel..put aside ur feeling of akwardness and shyness, express urself..be a true artist and i promise you, the songs that u play will jump out and reach into everyone's heart.
I hv told Jocelyn the story behind Carousel and Zafar...put urself in the songs and play with ur heart.
Last but not least thk u Fuad, for the speech and insight of NJC's angklung this morning..also to all seniors for the support. Once an angklunite will forever be an angklunite. I never regretted not even once since 2005 my time with NJC angklung.

When I was at RP today, I was reminded of that day at SCH in 2007. It seems as though SYF at SCH just happened yesterday.

Since it's time to be nostalgic, with Michell and Azhar digging up all those old photos, I shall, for the benefit of the present members, embed the SYF 2007 songs here. These recordings were made secretly on 26 April (if I'm not wrong), the actual day of central judging. The mp3s are on KM.

The last part of Zapin was so fast that it left the audience awestruck. Actually it was too fast. Amazing.

I still owe all of you the photos of the mad buffet rush at NUS Bukit Timah. They will be up soon.

^1977 ORIENTATION. wow i think some uniforms dont exist now already^^ ahh.. the super OMG photo!! Angklung outing in 1977!!! Guess where did our seniors go??

PULAU TEKONG!! so cool rite!! haha. imagine jocelyn telling everyone tt the nxt outing will be at pulau tekong. hahaha.

alright. that's all the soft copies tt i koped from the diskettes.

perhaps just 30 years later, our juniors may be laughing at us too haha.

perhaps the future trend is to wear the nj skirt till it touches the floor lol.

To all seniors,
If u want to see the ensemble performing the syf pieces u can :
1) come to the rehearsal at RP on 27th Mar at 11am to 1pm OR
2) come to Broadrick Sec School hall on 15th Apr at 4pm OR
3) drop by to any of the prac sessions in school.

For no 1, only NJC ensemble will be there
For no 2, all other ensembles under me will be performing..its a pre syf mini performance which i organise to get them familiarise with stage setup and playing in front of audience.
Both days are closed-door event, open to invited guest only, if u want to attend to any or both days, do let me know.

Actual syf for angklung is on 22nd Apr at RP, NJ is second last school to play which is around 1pm.. i'm not sure whether its open to public or not...

Hello hello hello, doing my bit to keep this place from dying.
This goes to all current members, who hv been practising hard for the coming syf on 22th Apr. The progress so far has been good. I may not spend much time with u guys, but i hv faith in each and everyone of you, thats why i'm entrusting the ensemble with two original songs, you will be showcasing two songs that hv not been played and heard on angklung anywhere IN THE WORLD. Commitment, perserverance and working as one team will help you to achieve wat u desire. NJC angklung has always been close like a family...we may not hv a wide collection of super big strong instruments, but the closeness and cohesion compensate on that, i'm sure the seniors and super seniors will agree with me. The experience that u gain by being in the ensemble will forever be etched in your heart...again, the seniors will vouch for that.
Once an angklunite will always be an angklunite...thats why u can see some of your super seniors pop-in during your session..even Mr Fuad, the ex-teacher ic sacrifice his precious time to drop by and keep track on the progress. You hv all the support from ur teachers, seniors and instructor.
Getting the award is secondary, wats important is the experience and togetherness that u gain thru the processes leading towards syf, no amount of gold can replace that.
And i hv to warn u this, angklung is very infectious and addictive, u may end up spending more time with ur angklung mates than ur own classmates! (dun believe? ask ur seniors).
Last but not least..lets continue the legacy...stay together no matter wat and work towards a common goal.
Together we make it happen.

Congrats to all seniors who did well. To those who are disappointed, don't lose heart.

Practices will be intensifying soon. Keep the spirit up. I know the JC2s will have lots of consolidation and H3 lessons during this period of time.

For the SH1s, some of you may be running for council, so you may miss some practices.

For whatever reason you cannot make it for practices, please inform any exco member beforehand. There is no excuse not to know when practices are because the schedule is on KM.

I, on behalf of all angklungnites, wish you all the best when you get your results. Do remember to collect your concert dvds from me!!!

To all members:

In the future, any schedules, scores or important documents are to be uploaded on KM (Student Centre / CCA / Angklung). All SH1s have their accounts activated. The KM is the proper way to share resources, not the blog. Anybody making announcements can paste the link to KM here so that all can access the relevant documents easily.

Please note that there are copyright issues regarding publishing material online, especially scores!!!

Sorry everyone for the late update. Here's the schedule for the month of March.

Please do download and print or keep a copy of it for your own personal reference. I won't be sending any relay down UNLESS, there is an urgent change in practice dates/time or venue.

Please take note that for the SYF rehearsal at republic poly on the 27th of March, you will be excused from lessons. We are having a 4 hour slot shared with guitar ensemble. So technically we will be given 2 hours.

Any queries, please do raise them during practices or sms me directly. (:
