We are a group of carefree students who have gathered together,
regardless of bawahs, normals, atas, kulintang and percussions
to create music like none other with our conductor, Mr Dzul. :D

Do more with less.. i remembered telling this to the angklunites b4 the 2005 SYF. One melody kul, one bass kul and a lone rebana player accompanying a group of players holding a double chambered angklung and two pieces of accompaniement angklung playing only two chords... looking back, now i realised that i was crazy...crazy to pull that off. We were so under-dogged and so not colourful... i'm holding on to a single piece of thread as a life line...the thread of teamwork and commitment, and when we were conferred with a GOLD,i realised that's the most important thread that binded everyone together and the seemingly impossible feat became possible.
To the seniors of NJC angklunites, its been an honour to be able to coach a very committed and dedicated lot and at the same time knowing you as a friend.
To the juniors, u hv the same team spirit...continue to uphold wat ur seniors hv imparted in you and do the same to ur juniors, and we'll excel as a group, as a team for nxt year's SYF and future performances

let me comment on the syf songs tt joyce and i heard?

zapin budi was really nice! outstanding playing from man zhi, you've improved a lot! =) and very interesting layers with the accompaniment!

the other zapin still needs proper finishing, the normals cld do with a bit more lengthy pulling, just so it joins up nicely but the atas and bawas were very gd!

the new song was cool, really like the melodic sound! in fact, the initial part, with the resolution of minor to major, was very cool. the middle portion was a little long but the last part with the gradual change in speed has the makings of being winning, once the juniors master tt portion. i'm so excited for syf, you all!

yesterday's gathering was a very nice and cosy one, thanks very much to jia tian for hosting it! =)

i'm sure the seniors enjoyed themselves and it was such a pity tt not all of us cld make it...

Just to add on to what Xuesi had just announced, I appeal to all Angklungnites to come this Wednesday, the more the merrier.

The current exco has made a lot of effort in organising this gathering (like getting the caterer and finding a venue and getting people to come) and so I hope to see as many of you as possible there.

And thanks Jiatian for getting us a condo function hall!

So come on and join in the fun!

Time to meet : 630pm
Place to meet at : BUKIT PANJANG LRT ( somewhere outside the faregate =) )
Expected to end by 10pm

It will be a night of food, fun and laughter! Great chance to catch up with the seniors too! Hope everyone will try your best to come. About 30 people are confirmed coming already! okay.im here to clear up the stuff about the gathering.

Due to some unforeseen circumstances and misunderstandings, i have to say sorry that we cannot confirm the date till now. Right now, we're trying to get a place to have the gathering. If things are okay, i'll fill u guys in tmr. Hopefully I will be able to get positive replies. Once again sorry for the delay. We hope that the venue will be available for wednesday night, if not we will put the gathering in December.

anw, my As are over now! =) feels very invigorating to know tt i can finally get started on packing my room and generally fixing everything up! and we're all meeting up too! [mr fuad, we are gg to, right?]

The new sets of angklung is awesome...although after today's practice i see that some of you have problem adjusting to it. Dont worry, you'll get over it. Two more sessions for this year ( 1 for me)...hope to see everyone.
We'll finalise the two SYF songs.... after that i'll touch up on the arrgt in Dec and cum next year, the battle begins.
Together we'll make it happen.
Meanwhile, do patronise this blog...that includes you seniors and super seniors..

Congrats to those who had completed their A levels. How do you feel??Great right!!!I still remember the feeling after A levels and I'm sure Mr Dzul and MR Tan will agree to this. We are not talking about the results as yet but the fact that I had survived the 2 yrs....thats already a test of strength. Those 2 yrs were one of the best 2 yrs in my life and also one of the shittiest too!!

To think of it, NJC Angklung is indeed blessed as the ensemble is now under the charge of 3 Saints!!!!! No wonder we keep on getting lucky and all......

Anyway, post this pic to share with those who love soccer or beckham or both. This picture is a wall painting and can be found on the ceiling of Cologne train station.

As for the get together, I will post the details later tonite ok. In the meantime, enjoy your hols.....

hello guys!

i just finished my A level ytd so here i am online today! hahaha. quite happy to know you're all still blogging here! *yayness* it's good to keep in contact yeah?

and so exciteddd to know we're gonna have a gathering! (ok quite sad it's not a chalet.. >_< but nvm nvm, anything is better than nothing) hehe.. do inform us more about it ok! in the meantime practise hard for the SYF next year!

oh and i want to let you know that i think so far you guys have done very well! i watch you guys during open day tech run, year end party (survivor is it?) and i heard you guys practising the new zapin on wed (even met some of you)! jia you jia you ok! hehe.. although that day i feel like boxing you all cos so noisy and i can't study for my afternoon paper.. hahaha.

which on that note, i want to COMPLAIN abt the lousy school! that day i took my econs mcq paper in the afternoon and i could hear the CONSTRUCTION and the PIANO playing even when all the hall's doors are completely closed. aiy0! and i can't concentrate at all! the mcq quite hard some more.. and i can't think properly! i think piano and construction should be banned when exams are on???? TSK! oh well. it's over i guess.

ok shall not blabber some more.. you guys take care ok! (:

PS: i have 5 physics tys (qns and ans kind, mcq with helps, etc etc), 1 physics tb (by giambattista), 1 chem tys (qns and ans kind) and 1 econs tb. anyone interested to buy them? i can sell them for quite cheap price and they're all still like brand new cos i barely touch them! lol. that time too enthu then buy too many.. -.-"

Hi everyone....hope that the PW presentation has been good to you guys. Guess what...the SYF schedule is already out and it will be in April and will be at Singapore Conference Hall. The exact date will be given in January next year.

We will try to book a slot at Singapore Conference Hall so that we can practice and have a feel of the place before the actual day. As of now, you have nothing to worry cos Mr Dzul has experience conducting at that place and with the excellent acoustic, I'm sure Yr 2007 will bring out the best in each of us.

Enough said, holiday is approaching soon. We will only be having practices till end of November. If you ask around, there are many CCAs already in preparation for the SYF and will be making use of the Dec holiday to truly brush up their SYF pieces so that by next year, they will be ready to put up an excellent error free performance. As for us, we will be taking a much deserved break this time round. For those who are going back to Indon, don't forget to check out the kebaya ok. For those going to Tianjin, enjoy your trip, I was planning to include Angklung in the trip next yr to Tianjin so as to introduce Angklung to them. See how it goes.

As for the rest, use this time wisely to either catch up with your loved ones, or to find love!!For those that are lacking behind in their studies, please use this time wisely yto truly catch up on your lose time and make sure when the year start, you are ahead of the others as next year is going to be so busy that you would not have time to even revise your work!!

So, I hope to see everyone during this last few practices for the year. Let's end the year with a good feeling of the songs that we are performing next year. Mr Dzul had put in loads of effort in ensuring the pieces that we play will bring out the best in us so it's up to you guys to do just that.

For the excos, do plan something for the end of the year ie last practice function or something. Check out with the Yr 2 whether they have anymore papers on the 29 Nov if not we can arrange for a get together after our last practice session for the year.

So, once again, have a great holiday!!!
ps: please feel free to update this blog. After 7 years in Angklung, this blog has truly bring me very much closer to the members and I'm sure the seniors will agree to this too....I'm talking about even the senior's seniors are visiting this blog to keep up with what we are doing.
